Marty Ball, Vice President of Sales
Inducted in the National Spinal Cord Injury Association (NSIA) Hall of Fame!

After a delay in the ceremony due to hurricanes on the Gulf Coast, our own Marty Ball was inducted in the NSIA Hall of Fame on November 17, 2008 in New Orleans, LA!  Marty has been a tireless advocate for individuals who use wheelchairs for over 50 years.  Whether it was breaking ground in wheelchair sports, developing new products, or advocating for users everywhere, Marty Ball continues to be an inspiration to many people in our industry.  We are honored that he is part of our TiLite team and definitely agree that he is true Hall of Fame material!

Congratulations Marty, on the recognition you deserve!

Doug Garven Joins TiLite Engineering!

At TiLite, we are continually trying to design and produce the most innovative products on the market.  To continue with this tradition, we are pleased to announce that Doug Garven has joined our engineering team. Doug, an Industrial Design graduate from Kent State University, comes to TiLite with over 16 years of industry experience where his award-winning designs have included chairs for companies including E&J, Quickie, and Invacare Europe.  He also has extensive experience outside the industry as a freelance design consultant for companies such as Rock Shox and Johnson and Johnson.

Doug, an end user since 1989, is passionate about his work and always tries to push the envelope with his designs.  He works hard and plays hard. Sailing since the age of 2, Doug spent most of his childhood growing up on a sailboat in the Virgin Islands, and now spends his free time enjoying handcycling and motorsports.  Join the TiLite team in welcoming Doug.  We are certain that his experience and enthusiasm will keep TiLite at the top of our game.

Congratulations Sherry Pond!
Sr. International Customer Service Representative

In an effort to continuously improve our customer service department, Sherry Pond will take over the responsibility for all International Customer Service, excluding Canada, effective in late January.  Sherry has been with TiLite customer service for over 7 years, and many of our customers have grown accustomed to her friendly voice and her excellent problem-solving abilities!  Sherry will be responsible for coordinating all international orders and shipments in conjunction with the Director of Sales, Tina Roesler, and our new European Sales Manager, Julianna Arva.  With tremendous growth in our international markets, this is a challenge that we are sure Sherry will meet head on!  While some of our domestic partners will miss her, be assured that she will always be around to help out and fill in during our busiest seasons.  So, in the next few weeks, please join the staff at TiLite in congratulating Sherry on her new role in Customer Service.

A Therapist View on Natural-Fit®  Handrims

Natural-Fit Handrims are ergonomically designed to reduce forces while propelling a wheelchair and will help to improve the performance, efficiency and comfort for a user.  They were developed based on published scientific studies and have had excellent results both in the lab and the clinic -- results that include reduced effort to grip the rim and reduced pain.  The two piece handrim provides a large, oval surface area for grasping the rim and braking, while the thumb piece protects the hand from catching between the rim and the wheel.  The thumb piece also completes the ergonomic grip which eliminates the unhealthy pinch grip that a standard little round tube handrim requires.

Now available in two sizes, the original Natural-Fit and the Natural-Fit LT, you can be sure that your client will have the right product for his or her lifestyle.  The LT is the newest innovation from Three Rivers that reduces the weight by 25% compared to the original Natural-Fit by reducing the size and weight of the oval piece.   The LT might be appropriate for clients that are ultra sensitive to weight or that have smaller hands.

“The Natural Fit Handrim provides my clients with a proven ergonomic design that helps to improve push biomechanics, prevent upper extremity injury and improve overall function and quality of life.  The shape and feel is different from all the other rims we have tried at our facility.”
