At the age of 14, Chelsea is the youngest member of the 2008 U.S. Paralympic Team. She qualified for the Paralympics in the women’s 800 meter in July with a time of 2:09.32, a personal best. Since then her performance in the 800 meter has been nothing short of remarkable. In her first heat at the Bird’s Nest in Beijing, China in front of a stadium filled to capacity, Chelsea shattered her personal best by 12 seconds and qualified for the finals. On Saturday, September 13th in front of another packed crowd at the Bird’s Nest, Chelsea again set a personal best by shaving off an additional 6 seconds from the 1.57 time she set just the night before!
Because Chelsea’s home is in Benton City, Washington, just down the Yakima River from TiLite, everyone here has taken a special interest in watching her grow into an outstanding young woman and athlete. We are all proud of her accomplishments and are honored to share in her successes.
Congratulations Chelsea!
We look forward to seeing you at the London Paralympics in 2012.
